As parents there is nothing we enjoy about seeing our babies cry. We don’t get pleasure when our kids are upset, frustrated or having a full-on meltdown. It’s during these moments, where we have to take step-back and look at the big picture. We need to look at the whole picture and not just the […]
The guilt working parents feel and experience is undeniable. They physically can’t spend enough time with their kids and this is a part of life. It’s totally and completely understandable to be feeling like there simply aren’t enough hours in the day. There are only so many hours that our kids are home from school […]
My dear friend, whom I have know since childhood is a wife and mama to two adorable boys. She not only makes parenting looks easy, but she does it along with running her own business as a Wardrobe Stylist at Renee Lara Style and blogs about it along the way. Renee is definitely rooted through her life experiences and her […]
It’s that time of year where everyone, myself included, sits back and takes a long hard look at the year that just passed. Did we accomplish all we wanted? Are we happy with it overall? Did was have success? Where did we fail? And now the big question….How the heck can we improve this year? […]
hi parents and followers! happy new year and i hope you all had a fantastic holiday season! we are finally getting back into our usual rhythm of school and activities. where does the time go? i wish i could slow it down, but unfortunately i don’t have the power. although, i do have the power to help you sleep train your little ones! i read an article this morning from the Globe and Mail newspaper titled “secrets of a cold-hearted ‘sleep trainer.'” it was a very interesting article and one that left me wishing i could write the author back. wishing i could tell her it was possible and that everything would be okay. that you can sleep all night and so can your babies/kids. its not an impossible feat. it is something everyone can do with commitment and consistency. i’m not saying it’s always easy and it is sometimes easier for some than others. some are left feeling pleasantly surprised and others struggle through it, but end with success. with my help, support, and assistance, together you can have success! i’m positive!
just as we are constantly reinforcing the importance of literacy and reading with and to our little ones, it’s just as important that we read and read some more ourselves! of course, we all need to take some time and just read to relax but, it’s also good to freshen up on our parenting by reading some of the great resources that are out there for all of us! every once in awhile i find it very helpful to find a parenting book that discusses whatever issue(s) i feel our family is going through. for example: back talking, parent/child struggles, etc. every child and family has certain phases that come and go. it’s how you deal with these issues and phases that help you get through them in a less painful way. the rate at which they disappear and get you back to your normal state is reliant on how you choose to deal with it.
quality versus quantity is something that all of us debate within many areas of our lives. is it better to spend lots of time at work or less time in a more productive manner? is it better to spend lots of time exercising at a moderate level or kill it for 30 minutes? is it better to spend lots of time with our kids where we may be reading the paper and them watching TV or less time where we are fully engaged with them? all of these questions, along with many more, each have an answer. everyone’s answer to them may vary, but for me the quality is way more important than the quantity in each and every area!!
every year i ask myself this question and every year for some reason the answer is always, yes! how is it possible that an entire year has passed. that our kids are finished another school year and we are , yes, another year older. how does this happen and so quickly? june is that bitter sweet time of year. that time of year where there is tons of hustle and bustle to finish up the school year, say goodbye to friends and teachers for the summer and again, yes, gear up to have your kids home all summer!! being a former teacher and now a parent i can say with certainty that summer break is a teachers’ dream and a parents’ nightmare. well, maybe not a nightmare entirely, but i love that analogy! it’s that time of year where you don’t know how you will survive the summer with kids home everyday. but, like every year, the summer will fly by and before long, if you’re anything like me, you will be slightly saddened that they are heading back to school. it’s a cycle that just goes on and on each and every year!
To all you mommies out there I’m sure this list will resonate with you in some way. At one point in time someone has judged your parenting or made you feel bad about choices you’ve made. If you’re like me then there have been days where you feel as though you are in a constant […]
goodbye 2012 and hello 2013! a new year to start fresh, continue with the good and try and fix the bad! it’s time to reflect on the past year and think about ways in which we want to try and better ourselves and how we live our lives. sometimes reflection isn’t always the easiest thing to do as we often have to re-live times, experiences, or actions that we may not enjoy or be all that proud of. that being said once the reflection is complete and you’ve had time to really think about those times, you are often bettered for it! you can then move forward trying to create better actions in the new year to come.
